The Greers Ferry Lake boat ramp at Tumbling Shoals provides direct access to the Little Red River, a popular destination for kayakers, canoeists, and trout anglers. This site is located near the Greers Ferry National Fish Hatchery, which works in cooperation with state agencies to stock the river with rainbow and brook trout.
The boat ramp is part of the larger Greers Ferry Lake recreation area, which offers numerous campgrounds, marinas, and other amenities around the shoreline. Several campgrounds within 10 miles of the ramp provide additional access points to the river. While fees and hours may vary, the ramp itself is free to use and available year-round.
The Little Red River flows out of Greers Ferry Dam, creating a tailwater fishery known for its abundant trout population. Paddlers can explore the river's calm, meandering sections as well as its riffles and rapids, depending on water levels. The river's character changes significantly as it transitions from the lake, so paddlers should research conditions and plan accordingly.
