About This Access Site
Located on the northern end of Grenada Dam along Highway 333 in Gums, the North Abutment Day Use Area provides boat launch access to Grenada Lake on the Skuna River. This is a large river system (Stream Order 7) with an average flow of 961 cubic feet per second and moderate gradient of 3.6 feet per mile. The pavilion area is equipped with restrooms and accommodates both day-use visitors and those hosting events. Boat launching is available; note that a $5 launch fee applies, though some alternative ramps on the lake (Choctaw, Skuna-Turkey, Torrance, Upper Yalobusha, Wolf Creek, and South Outlet Old River Run) offer free access.

**Practical Tips for Paddlers:** Water levels fluctuate seasonally, and caution is advised during winter months when shallow areas and obstructions may limit ramp access. Daily and Annual Day Use Passes are available for purchase and provide access to boat ramps and other lake facilities. For reservations or current conditions, contact the facility at 662-226-1679. Grenada Lake offers additional recreation opportunities including bank fishing and is home to the annual "Thunder on Water" festival each June.
