About This Access Site
Gristmill Park in Homer offers a convenient access point on the Kalamazoo River with a concrete boat launch ramp and vehicle-accessible cobblestone bar, making it suitable for car-top launches and small fishing boats. The site provides good takeout options for paddlers and is particularly popular as a rest stop for canoeists and kayakers paddling the river. Ample parking is available to accommodate multiple vehicles.

The park serves as a multi-use recreation area with equestrian and hiking trails in the vicinity, including an equestrian/hiking trail that terminates nearby upstream. The landscape features varied terrain and vegetation with access to isolated waterfront areas. This location dominates the upstream portion of the south side of the SARA Park Area and is open year-round from sunrise to sunset, making it accessible for paddling trips throughout the seasons. Consult a Kalamazoo River paddling map to determine distances between access points and plan your route accordingly.
