Gunlock State Park offers a convenient boat ramp and access point for paddlers and boaters on the tranquil waters of Gunlock Reservoir. Located in scenic red rock country just 15 miles northwest of St. George, Utah, this 240-acre reservoir is popular for year-round recreation including boating, fishing, and water sports.
The main boat launch ramp is situated along a short side road off the highway that runs along the eastern shore of the reservoir. While the ramp is open daily, hours vary by season, typically 7am to 8pm from May through September. Visitors should be aware that during periods of high runoff, there may be debris present in the reservoir, so caution is advised when launching and navigating.
The reservoir itself is relatively small, but offers a tranquil setting for paddlers and boaters to enjoy the surrounding red rock scenery. Facilities at Gunlock State Park include the boat ramp as well as pit privies. An annual Utah State Parks pass is accepted for entry. Advance camping reservations are recommended for those wishing to stay overnight and further explore the area.
