**Access Details:** Hanks Creek Park offers a single-lane boat ramp suitable for all watercraft types, including kayaks and canoes. The ramp includes a courtesy dock and parking area. Restroom facilities are available on-site. The park is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is open year-round. For current conditions or reservations, call 409-384-5716.

**Location & Directions:** Located on the northwest shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Angelina County, the park is easily accessible from Zavalla, TX. From State Highway 147, take FM 2109 north for 8 miles, then turn east on FM 2801 for 2 miles to the park entrance. Sam Rayburn Reservoir is a large impoundment offering diverse water sports opportunities, making it ideal for paddling, fishing, and recreational boating.

**Recreation & Amenities:** Beyond water access, Hanks Creek Park offers camping, a swim beach, volleyball, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing opportunities. The surrounding Angelina National Forest is home to the endangered Red-cockaded woodpecker. Sam Rayburn Reservoir, also called Lake Sam Rayburn, boasts over 114,000 surface acres, making it the largest man-made lake completely in Texas. It's surrounded by the Angelina National Forest, and is within short proximity to the Sabine and Davy Crockett National Forests.

The 20,700-acre Bannister Wildlife Management Area is on the northern peninsula of the lake. Hikers and bikers can come here to explore the designated Eastern Wild Turkey restoration site.
