Located approximately 8 miles north of Mandan off Highway 1806 and County Road 140, Harmon Lake offers a well-developed public boat ramp and dock facility ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The access point features paved parking, a dedicated kayak launching dock, and a floating fishing pier. The lake itself reaches depths of 38 feet and provides a scenic recreational setting with two sandy beaches along its shoreline.
The Harmon Lake Recreation Area is a comprehensive facility with 43 electrical camping sites, potable water, vault toilets, and a camper dumping station, making it convenient for multi-day trips. Additional amenities include picnic shelters, playgrounds, and a storm shelter on-site. The recreation area also serves as the starting point for mountain biking and hiking trails. Note that the site is located near Dakota Prairie National Grasslands, where winter conditions can be severe—plan accordingly for cold-weather paddling.
