About This Access Site
Harmony Lake Recreation Area, located approximately 8 miles north of Mandan on Highway 1806, offers a well-developed public boat ramp with dock access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The facility features a dedicated kayak launching dock and a floating fishing pier, making it convenient for paddlers of all skill levels to access the water. The ramp provides paved access and is suitable for launching various watercraft.

This recreation area is a full-service destination with 43 electrical camping sites, primitive camping options, potable water, a camper dumping station, and vault toilets. Additional amenities include picnic shelters, a sandy swimming beach, two playgrounds, and a 19.2-mile trail system for hiking and mountain biking. A campground host is on-site, and a storm shelter is available for emergencies, making this a safe option for day-use visitors and overnight campers.

The location provides convenient access to the Missouri River area and nearby attractions, including Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site and Sakakawea Lake, approximately 75 miles northwest. This makes Harmony Lake a practical base for exploring the region's waterways and recreational opportunities.
