About This Access Site
Harney Park provides convenient access to the Tampa Bypass Canal (also known as the Palm River), a 14-mile waterway in Hillsborough County. This is a no-wake zone restricted to motorboats of 10 HP or less, making it ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and other non-motorized paddlers. The facility features a boat ramp, dock, and paved parking area (parking fee applies). The canal connects the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve to McKay Bay, offering varied paddling opportunities through freshwater and brackish environments.

Located off US 301 north of SR 60, Harney Park is a straightforward access point with basic amenities—just a parking area, ramp, and dock. The calm, no-wake conditions make it suitable for paddlers of different skill levels. Leashed dogs are welcome, and a paved walking trail runs alongside the canal if you want to explore on foot. Be aware that water conditions and wildlife vary depending on which section you paddle, so check local conditions before heading out.
