About This Access Site
Hartsburg Access provides a concrete boat ramp for launching onto the Missouri River near Hartsburg in Boone County. Located just upstream of the bridge on River Road (2 miles west of town), the ramp points slightly downstream. Note that there is a shallow dike immediately upstream of the ramp; many boaters prefer to land on the sandbar to the right (downstream) of the launch point instead. Free parking is available at the site.
As a major river system (Stream Order 10), the Missouri River here is a substantial waterway with an average flow of 121,416 cubic feet per second and average current velocity of 7.42 feet per second. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for strong currents and a 3.9 ft/mile average gradient along this 925-mile river.
