Healy Lake State Forest Campground offers convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters in Manistee County. The campground features an on-site boat launch suitable for small fishing boats and kayaks, making it an ideal starting point for paddling. The lake itself is a calm, sheltered paddling destination popular for recreational boating and fishing for bluegill, perch, and bass.
The campground operates seasonally from May 1 to October 31 and includes 24 sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis (no reservations). Amenities include vault toilets, potable water, and a picnic and swimming area. A host camper is on-site from mid-May through mid-October. The location is approximately 7.5 miles southwest of Copemish via County Road 669, Healy Lake Road, Plagany Road, and Entrance Road in Kaleva. This makes it a convenient access point for paddlers seeking a quieter lake experience with nearby camping options.
