Helds Island Access

Helds Island Access provides a lighted boat ramp on the Gasconade River near Hermann, Missouri, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. This full-service facility includes a campground with tent and RV camping options, a camp store, shower house, dump station, and picnic areas—ideal for paddlers planning a multi-day trip or those needing overnight accommodations. The lighted ramp is particularly useful for early morning or evening launches.

The access point is located at mile marker 236.8 on the Gasconade River, offering easy access to downstream paddling toward Fredericksburg Ferry Access (approximately 8 miles downstream) and Gasconade Park Access (further downriver). This location works well as both a put-in point for river trips and as a base camp for exploring the Gasconade River corridor. Note that while the facility has specific daytime operating hours (4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.), boat launching is permitted 24 hours a day in designated areas, so confirm current access details directly with the managing agency before your visit.
