About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Hemlock Campground boat ramp is located at 2650 South Lake Mitchell Drive in Cadillac, Michigan. From M-55, travel west for 1.3 miles, then turn right (north) onto South Mitchell Lake Drive. The ramp provides access to Lake Mitchell, a 1,600-acre lake situated on the west side near Cadillac.
**What to Expect:** This is primarily a lake access point rather than a river launch. The west end of Lake Mitchell where the ramp is located features marshy areas that are excellent for wildlife viewing and exploration by kayak or canoe. However, be aware that swimming conditions are poor at this end due to aquatic vegetation (milfoil and other plants). The lake itself is nearly surrounded by residential development. This ramp works well for flat-water paddling and boating on the main lake, but paddlers should avoid the river outlet, which is not navigable.
**Best For:** Kayakers and canoers seeking calm, scenic lake paddling with wildlife viewing opportunities. Anglers will also find this a good access point for cold-water fishing in the area.
