Henry Hagg Lake, located in Scoggins Valley Park near Cherry Grove, offers a scenic paddling and boating destination in Washington County's Coast Ranges. This 2,500-acre reservoir was created by Scoggins Dam and is managed by Washington County Parks. The access area provides a boat ramp, ample parking, restrooms, picnic facilities, and beach access—making it a well-developed launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats.
The lake supports a variety of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, and sailboats. Note that the park operates multiple ramp locations: Area C (where this access point is located) serves non-motorized craft and general recreation, while Area A to the west is designated for power boats and personal watercraft. A day-use parking fee is required; passes can be purchased at the park entrance booth or at the Lake Stop Store in nearby Gaston. The surrounding park offers over 14 miles of multi-use trails and additional recreation areas like Eagle Point (1.5 miles from the entrance) if you want to explore beyond the water.
