About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Herbert H. Jessen Landing is located at 4820 Ladson Road Extension in the Oakbrook area of Summerville, just off Ladson and Old Trolley Road. The site offers dedicated access for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, with a boat ramp, kayak launch, fishing pier, and walking trails.

**Paddling Conditions:** The Ashley River widens considerably at this landing, making it suitable for average-sized motorboats and recreational paddlers. However, be aware of tidal influences—strong outgoing tides can run swiftly at the ramp, and low tide conditions expose tree stumps in the channel near the wooden pier. Plan your launch timing accordingly and exercise caution in this stretch.

**Amenities & Recreation:** In addition to water access, the landing features a fishing pier, boardwalk overlook, and walking trail, making it a good spot for a full day outing. The site serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the Ashley River by boat or paddle.
