Located in Henderson, Vance County, Hibernia Park provides convenient 24-hour access to Kerr Lake (also known as Buggs Island Lake) via Nutbush Creek. This 50,000-acre reservoir offers excellent conditions for kayaking, canoeing, and motorboating, with multiple boat ramps available at the access point. The park is part of the John H. Kerr Dam and Reservoir recreation area, which extends 39 miles along the Roanoke River with 800 miles of scenic wooded shoreline.
The Hibernia access area is well-developed with camping facilities including tent, trailer, and RV sites, some with electric and water hookups. A swim area is also available. As one of the primary access points to one of the eastern United States' best fishing lakes, Hibernia is suitable for all types of watercraft—from recreational paddlers exploring coves to anglers and water sports enthusiasts. The lake's calm, expansive waters make it ideal for paddling, and the multiple ramps accommodate everything from kayaks to larger fishing and ski boats.
