About This Access Site
Hickory Creek provides convenient access to the Hickory Creek Arm of Lewisville Lake, a popular 29,592-acre reservoir north of Dallas. The facility features a two-lane concrete boat ramp with parking for approximately 30 vehicles, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and larger motorboats. This is a day-use facility with no overnight camping allowed. Located just off Shady Shores Road in Shady Shores, the access point is easily reached via the Hickory Creek exit on I-35E.

The Hickory Creek Arm offers ample room for recreational paddling and boating, though visibility is limited. The warm water temperatures and 29,000+ acre expanse make it popular for fishing, swimming, and general boating throughout the summer months. Several other parks nearby—including Arrowhead Park, Point Vista Park, and Sycamore Bend Park—offer additional amenities such as dump stations, showers, and camping if you want to extend your visit. Day-use and boat ramp passes are available at pay stations (accepting cash and credit cards); contact 469-645-9100 for facility information.
