Located in Gorman, Durham County, this boat ramp provides convenient access to Falls Lake and the Neuse River system. The site is situated just 1.5 miles from the I-85 exit and approximately 15 minutes from downtown Durham, making it easily accessible for day trips. Note that the river access point requires a half-mile walk down a paved greenway trail to reach the water at the "T" intersection.
The Neuse River is a major waterway with significant flow (averaging 6,394 cubic feet per second) and a mild gradient of approximately 1 foot per mile. As an 8th-order stream, it's a substantial river system that eventually flows to the Atlantic Ocean. This access point serves paddlers, canoeists, and recreational boaters exploring the Falls Lake reservoir area and surrounding river corridors. The site is part of the Falls Lake recreation area, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with North Carolina state parks.
