Higgins Bridge is a public boat ramp providing access to the scenic rural section of the Saluda River near Silverstreet in Newberry County. The facility features a paved boat ramp and large parking lot, with a small day-use fee required. To reach the ramp, continue down Higgins Ferry Road until it makes a sharp left turn into the access area. The ramp operates during daylight hours only, with gates opening at dawn and closing at dusk; overnight parking is not permitted.
This location is ideal for half-day leisurely floats on a scenic, rural stretch of the Saluda River. Paddlers can take out approximately 700 feet downstream of the SC 121 bridge on the left bank, or continue further to the Saluda River Resort (an RV park with its own boat ramp) for an alternative takeout. The area offers peaceful paddling through relatively undeveloped terrain, making it a good choice for kayakers and canoeists seeking a relaxed river experience.
