About This Access Site
Highbanks Campground is a year-round facility operated by the Seneca Nation of Indians in Steamburg, offering convenient boat access to the Allegheny Reservoir. The campground features a dedicated boat launch with available dock slips, making it well-suited for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboat operators. The facility includes nearly 200 campsites and cabins with wooded, sunny, and ridge-top locations, plus amenities such as hot shower houses, swimming pools, and a lodge.

The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis for walk-up camping, with on-site payment available via fee envelope or the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature. Before planning an overnight stay, physically visit the campground to secure a site, as reservations are not guaranteed. The scenic reservoir setting provides good paddling opportunities, and dock reservations are available for those bringing their own watercraft. With year-round operation and multiple amenities, Highbanks serves as a solid base for extended water recreation on the Allegheny Reservoir.
