Highlandtown Wildlife Area South

This boat ramp provides access to Little Yellow Creek in Highlandtown, Columbiana County, with parking and a handicap-accessible dock available for paddlers and anglers. The site is located within a 2,269-acre state wildlife area known for fishing, waterfowl hunting, birding, and paddling. The access point can be reached via OH-164 from Lisbon or OH-39 from Salineville and Wellsville.

The surrounding landscape features steeply rolling terrain with elevations ranging from 1,060 to 1,340 feet, creating a scenic setting for paddling and wildlife viewing. The adjacent 170-acre lake is popular for small boats and canoes. Note that water level fluctuations can affect launch accessibility throughout the year, so conditions may vary seasonally. The wildlife area offers day-use access only, with no camping facilities available on-site. Nearby, the Ohio River's New Cumberland Pool offers an alternative for larger vessel access if needed.
