The Highway 17 Bridge ramp provides an unimproved soft-launch access point on Dunns Creek in Satsuma. Located on the right side of the highway before crossing the bridge, this site offers ample parking and is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small boats. The launch features a natural shoreline entry rather than a concrete ramp, making it ideal for paddlers.
Dunns Creek is a scenic Atlantic Coastal Plain waterway lined with cypress trees, hardwoods, and lily pads. Paddlers should be aware that manatees and large American alligators inhabit these waters—exercise caution and maintain appropriate distances. The creek attracts wildlife enthusiasts, as numerous bird and animal species live along its shores. This is one of two public launch points available on Dunns Creek, making it a convenient option for accessing the waterway in the Putnam County area.
