The Highway 63 Bridge boat ramp provides convenient public access to the Angelina River in Jasper County. This is a popular put-in point for kayakers and canoeists looking to explore this section of the river. The facility offers standard amenities including picnic tables, a picnic shelter, and wheelchair-accessible features, with free parking and no reported access fees.
Paddlers should expect a sluggish, meandering river with minimal current along this section. The first 5 miles downstream feature residential development, but conditions become noticeably more remote and peaceful beyond that point. For longer trips, you can extend your paddle approximately 7 miles downstream to reach B.A. Steinhagen Lake, or continue to additional takeout points at Bevelport (7 miles) or State Park facilities. Be aware that boat traffic can be significant, especially on weekends and during hunting season—weekday trips may offer a quieter experience.
Boykin Springs Camping is available just 10 miles away for those planning overnight trips, making this an accessible base for exploring the Angelina River system.
