About This Access Site
The Highway 76 Bridge boat ramp in Stateburg provides public access to the Wateree River in Richland County. This is one of only four public boat launch sites on the Wateree River, making it a valuable access point for kayakers and canoeists. The ramp features two lanes with paved parking for 12 vehicles and trailers, offering convenient facilities for launching trips.

This section of the Wateree River is characterized by scenic, forested surroundings. Paddlers should note that the river transitions from small shoals near Lake Wateree Dam (upstream) to predominantly flat water downstream. The river is known for sandbars suitable for camping at appropriate water levels, making it popular for multi-day paddling trips. Nearby attractions include Congaree National Park, which showcases exceptional bottomland hardwood forest and wildlife. Before launching, check current water levels and weather conditions, as the Wateree's character varies significantly between the shoal and flat-water sections.
