About This Access Site
Horseneck Beach State Reservation offers convenient boat access to Westport Harbor, a protected coastal estuary ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized vessels. The ramp is located at the base of Route 88 near the wide barrier beach and is easily accessible for launching and retrieving boats. The site includes parking facilities for both vehicles and boat trailers, making it practical for day trips or launching from a towed boat.

From this access point, paddlers can explore the scenic Westport Harbor and access the surrounding Narragansett Bay area, which encompasses extensive salt marsh, island, and estuarine habitat. The nearby Narragansett Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve offers additional paddling opportunities around Prudence, Patience, Hope, and Dyer islands. The area is suitable for both motorized and non-motorized boating, fishing, and windsurfing.

The reservation also provides beach amenities including showers, camping facilities, and walking trails on adjacent Gooseberry Neck, making it a good base for extended water recreation. With its protected harbor setting and proximity to broader bay exploration, Horseneck Beach is well-suited for paddlers of varying experience levels seeking coastal paddling opportunities in southeastern Massachusetts.
