About This Access Site
Hozomeen Campground offers two graded cement boat ramps at the north end of Ross Lake, providing the primary vehicle access point for this scenic reservoir in North Cascades National Park. The campground is open late May through October on a first-come, first-served basis with no camping fees. The ramps are generally accessible mid-June through September, depending on water and road conditions. The facility includes pit toilets and potable water, though there are no fuel, food, or other services available.

**Important Access Notes:** The only vehicle route to Hozomeen is via the Silver-Skagit Road, a 39-mile gravel road from Highway 1 near Hope, British Columbia. This remote access road is rough, with washboards and potholes common even after grading. Carry a spare tire, as flats from sharp rocks are frequent. The long approach means most paddlers should plan an overnight stay at the campground. Note that some campsites in the Upper Loop are currently closed due to hazard trees.

For paddlers accessing from the south, an alternative is launching portable craft (canoes and kayaks) at Colonial Creek Campground on Diablo Lake, though this requires portaging or paddling a different section. Contact the park at (360) 854-7200 for current conditions before making the drive to Hozomeen.
