Hugh Glass Land Use Area

The Hugh Glass Land Use Area offers a free boat launch on the South Fork Grand River arm of Shadehill Reservoir in northwestern South Dakota. This is one of two primary boating access points on the 4,800-acre reservoir, which features over 65 miles of shoreline. The launch provides convenient access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to explore the scenic water formed by the confluence of the North Fork and South Fork of the Grand River.

The site includes amenities typical of South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks areas, including a free campground, picnic area, and a historical monument commemorating mountain man Hugh Glass.
