About This Access Site
Hunter Run West is a public boat ramp providing access to Foster Joseph Sayers Lake and Bald Eagle Creek in Bald Eagle State Park near Howard, Centre County. This 1,730-acre lake offers a well-developed recreation area with amenities including picnic tables, grills, and restrooms at the launch site. The location serves as a good staging point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring the lake and creek system.

**Important regulations to note:** All boaters must follow a counterclockwise traffic pattern on the lake. Boats with inboard engines featuring over-the-transom or straight-stack exhausts are prohibited. If you need alternative access options, Hunter Run East Launch (off East Launch Road) and the Winter Launch provide 24-hour access, with the Winter Launch also featuring a fishing pier accessible to persons with disabilities.

The surrounding Bald Eagle State Park provides additional amenities including a marina, campground, beach area, and a historical village under restoration, making this an excellent base for extended paddling and recreation trips.
