I-55 Bridge

The I-55 Bridge boat ramp provides public access to North Pass in Ponchatoula, located in Tangipahoa Parish. To reach the launch, take I-55 to the Manchac exit, then head north on Highway 51. Within the first half-mile, you'll find a large parking area on the left—this is the boat launch. The sizable parking lot is easy to miss for first-time visitors, so watch carefully for the marked access point just off Highway 51.

This is a convenient access point for kayakers and canoeists launching into North Pass and the surrounding waterways. The site is well-positioned near the I-55 corridor, making it accessible from New Orleans and surrounding areas. Before launching, check local water conditions and tidal information, as access areas in this region can be affected by water levels and mudflat conditions. Arriving early during peak paddling seasons is recommended due to the popularity of the launch area.
