About This Access Site
Located near Schneider, Indiana, just north of the abandoned Stateline Bridge, this free public access point offers an unpaved boat ramp and parking for paddlers and boaters. The ramp is situated on the north (Indiana) side of the river; note that the bridge is no longer passable, making the site inaccessible from the south side via Illinois Route 114/Indiana State Road 10.

The Kankakee River at this location is a major waterway with substantial flow (averaging 5,683 cubic feet per second) and a moderate gradient of 1.4 feet per mile. Expect moving current with an average velocity of 2.72 feet per second. The river supports healthy populations of largemouth and smallmouth bass, Northern pike, walleye, and panfish, making it popular with anglers and recreational boaters. Bank access and basic facilities are available, making this a convenient launch point for day trips on this 132-mile river system.
