The Imperial Reservoir offers two boat launch ramps for access to this large desert lake in southwestern Arizona. This is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating, with a wide expanse of open water surrounded by rugged desert landscapes.
The main boat ramp is located at the T.K. Jones Campground, about 22 miles north of Yuma off of County Road S-24. This 2-lane boat ramp provides easy access to launch small watercraft. There is paved parking for vehicles and trailers. Nearby, the T.K. Jones Campground offers basic camping amenities.
For paddlers and small boaters, keep in mind that the Imperial Reservoir does not have direct access to the Colorado River. The reservoir is fed by the Gila River and is a separate water body. A valid Arizona fishing/hunting license is required for any recreational activities. Birdwatching, hiking, and wildlife viewing are also popular pastimes in this remote desert setting.
