About This Access Site
The Indian Lake access site offers a hard-surfaced boat ramp with parking for 50 vehicles and trailers, located on Route 30 approximately 14 miles north of Speculator. In addition to the main ramp, there is a hand launch nearby for smaller watercraft, making this a convenient access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Accessible facilities including bathrooms and informational kiosks are available on-site.

Indian Lake is a scenic Adirondack destination where powerboats, rowboats, and canoes are permitted. Paddlers should note that the lake features the beautiful Indian Lake Islands DEC Campground with boat-accessible campsites offering privacy and excellent forest setting. However, avoid launching near the dam on the lake's north end, as conditions there are unsafe for boats. For those exploring connected waters, small boats and canoes can portage to Lewey Lake via a spillway underneath the Route 30 bridge, though this passage is typically restricted to smaller craft.
