The Interstate-94 access site provides convenient public boat launch access to the Galien River just north of New Buffalo, near the I-94 and US 12 intersection. This developed facility features a standard concrete boat ramp with soft banks on either side that are gentle on boats during loading and unloading. The access point is compact—less than 50 yards in length—but offers adequate space for launching and parking. A pit toilet is available on-site for user convenience.
From this ramp, paddlers gain direct access to the Galien River with potential passage to Lake Michigan. The site is open 24 hours daily, making it flexible for early morning or evening paddling trips. Non-motorized watercraft including canoes, kayaks, and rafts are welcome at this City-owned recreational property. An attendant is on duty during extended hours to assist users, and trailer parking is available. This is an ideal launch point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the lower Galien River or planning day trips to the Lake Michigan shoreline.
