About This Access Site
The Irons Fork Recreation Area offers a convenient boat ramp access point to Lake Ouachita, a large and scenic reservoir in central Arkansas. This primitive camping site is located on the northern end of the lake and provides a concrete boat ramp, pit toilets, and basic picnic facilities like tables and grills.

For kayakers, canoeists, and small powerboats, the Irons Fork ramp provides a launching spot to explore the crystal-clear waters and wooded shorelines of Lake Ouachita. The lake is known for excellent fishing, with plentiful populations of bass, crappie, and other game fish. Boaters should be aware of changing water levels and the potential for submerged obstacles, as this is a flood control reservoir. While there are no swimming beaches or developed recreation areas nearby, the peaceful setting of Irons Fork makes it a good option for self-guided paddle trips and relaxing days on the water.
