About This Access Site
Island Lake offers a public boat launch for paddlers and boaters in the Peabody Wildlife Management Area near Beaver Dam in Ohio County, Kentucky. This 12-acre lake provides a scenic setting for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. The ramp is accessible via major routes including KY-70, KY-369, KY-176, KY-269, and US-62. **Note:** The waterfowl refuge around Island Lake is closed from October 15 through March 15 each year, so plan your visit accordingly during other months.

**Practical Information:** Parking is limited to designated parking areas and maintained roads—do not block gates or access roads. The site is part of a Wildlife Management Area, so hunters are present seasonally. Firearms cannot be discharged within 100 yards of the boat ramp. This is a small lake, making it ideal for casual paddling and fishing rather than distance paddling. Check current conditions and any seasonal closures before visiting, and respect all WMA regulations during your visit.
