About This Access Site
The Ivanhoe boat ramp is a public access point operated by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission on the Black River in Sampson County. Parking is available at the ramp, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. This is one of three public access areas on the Black River in this region.

The Black River is a major river system (288 miles total length) with substantial flow averaging over 10,500 cubic feet per second and a moderate gradient of about 1.5 feet per mile. At this location near the coastal plain, the river moves at an average velocity of 2.8 feet per second, making it suitable for various paddling skill levels depending on water conditions. Nearby, Moores Creek National Battlefield offers additional historical interest for visitors to the area. Before paddling, check current water quality conditions, as Cape Fear River Watch monitors bacteria levels in the Cape Fear River Basin waterways.
