About This Access Site
Jamestown Reservoir, located 2 miles north of Jamestown in central North Dakota, offers excellent boating and paddling opportunities with approximately 2,095 water surface acres and 45 miles of scenic shoreline. The reservoir serves as a flood control feature on Pipestem Creek and provides a relatively calm, sheltered paddling environment suitable for kayakers and canoeists of varying skill levels.

This well-developed access area features seven boat ramps at various locations around the reservoir, with Lakeside Marina Boat Ramp being a primary launch point. The site offers comprehensive amenities including two campgrounds with 335 total campsites (110 with RV hookups), two swimming beaches, picnic areas with tables and shelters, and two dump stations. Over two miles of asphalt trails on the east side provide additional recreational options for visitors.

In addition to paddling, the reservoir supports fishing and offers boat rentals and concessions at the modern campground facilities. The expansive shoreline and multiple access points make it easy to explore different areas of the water. Pipestem Lake, located north of Jamestown on Pipestem Creek, offers an alternative 840-acre paddling destination nearby for those seeking additional exploration options.
