About This Access Site
Jamestown Reservoir offers excellent paddling and boating opportunities with seven boat ramps positioned around the 2,095-acre reservoir. Located just 2 miles north of Jamestown in central North Dakota, this impoundment features approximately 45 miles of shoreline, providing plenty of water to explore. The Lakeside Marina Boat Ramp (2944-2966 E Lakeside Rd) is one of the primary launch points and includes amenities like boat rentals and concessions.

The reservoir is well-developed for recreation, with two campgrounds offering 335 campsites (110 with RV hookups), two swimming beaches, picnic areas with shelters, and over two miles of asphalt trails on the east side. This makes it an ideal destination for multi-day paddling trips or day outings. Being a reservoir with calm, protected waters, Jamestown is suitable for kayakers and canoeists of various skill levels, particularly families and beginners seeking flat-water paddling.

Plan ahead by contacting Lakeside Marina or the main facility for current water conditions, seasonal access information, and any facility closures. The reservoir's size and extensive shoreline make it worthwhile to explore different launch points depending on your paddling goals and preferred paddling areas.
