Jenny Wiley State Park offers excellent access to Dewey Lake with multiple boat ramps suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. Located in Prestonsburg, the park features three to four launching ramps, a full-service marina with 199 open slips, and rental options including canoes and pontoon boats. This makes it an ideal access point whether you're launching your own vessel or renting equipment for the day.
The 49-room lodge, 18 cottages, campground, and picnic facilities make Jenny Wiley a comprehensive recreation destination for multi-day trips. Dewey Lake is surrounded by wooded hills that rise approximately 700 feet above the water, creating scenic paddling conditions. The lake supports largemouth and hybrid striped bass, bluegill, catfish, and crappie, making it popular with anglers as well. The park also maintains hiking and biking trails and offers additional amenities including a gift shop, swimming pool, and canteen services at the marina.
For paddlers interested in backcountry camping, tent campsites accessible only by boat are available around the lake and managed by the Corps of Engineers—contact the park office or Corps for details on reservations and regulations.
