Located in Barton City within Alcona County's National Forest lands, Jewell Lake offers a developed public boat ramp for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The access features a concrete ramp (less than 50 yards long) leading to a sandy bottom, with an accompanying dock for easier launching and landing. Parking is available on-site, along with pit toilets for visitor convenience. Note that the access is gated when closed, so check current hours before visiting.
The lake itself is known for its clear water and sandy bottom, making it suitable for paddling and water activities. A swimming beach and National Forest campground are nearby, with the picnic area and ramp located conveniently close to the camping facilities. To reach the access, turn left and travel west on Forest Road 4601 for approximately 0.5 miles from the main area. This makes Jewell Lake a good option for a day trip or extended paddling adventure combined with camping.
