The Hailstone North boat ramp at Jordanelle State Park provides easy access to Provo River and the Jordanelle Reservoir for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. The ramp is located on the north side of the reservoir, away from the busier Hailstone boat launch area.
This non-motorized access point is ideal for paddlers who want to enjoy the scenic reservoir and river without competing with larger powerboats. The ramp is wide enough to accommodate car-top boats and has ample parking nearby. Once on the water, paddlers can explore the sheltered coves and inlets of the reservoir, or venture up the Provo River to take in the surrounding Wasatch Mountain scenery.
Jordanelle Reservoir offers over 3,000 surface acres of water surrounded by rolling hills and pine forests. The Provo River flows into the north end of the reservoir, providing a more intimate and tranquil paddling experience compared to the main body of the lake. Paddlers should be aware of potential wind and waves on the open reservoir, but the protected river channel offers calmer conditions.
