About This Access Site
Kalispel Riverside Park in Cusick offers a concrete boat ramp and wooden dock ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorboats onto the Pend Oreille River. As a major river system (Stream Order 8) with an average flow of over 26,000 cubic feet per second, paddlers should be prepared for substantial current and water movement. The river maintains a relatively modest 2.1 ft/mile gradient through this area, making it suitable for intermediate paddlers, though the high average velocity of nearly 10 feet per second should be respected.

The park includes a picnic shelter, swimming area, and a scenic 0.3-mile boardwalk with twelve interpretive displays overlooking the river. Shoreline access is limited primarily to the boat ramp itself. The Pend Oreille River Water Trail connects several communities from Oldtown, Idaho, northward through Newport, Usk, and Cusick, offering extended paddling opportunities for those seeking multi-day trips. Excellent bass and trout fishing is available in the river.
