About This Access Site
Located on the east side of Big Kandiyohi Lake near Lake Lillian, this county park offers a public boat launch providing access to a 2,683-acre lake. The launch area features an excellent sandy swimming beach and is situated approximately 6 miles north of Lake Lillian on County Road 8 (about 18 miles south of Willmar). This access point is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters looking to explore the lake.

Big Kandiyohi Lake has a maximum depth of 18 feet and supports healthy populations of walleye, northern pike, crappies, and catfish, making it popular with anglers. The sandy beach and shoreline fishing access make this a versatile destination for both paddlers seeking recreational exploration and anglers planning to fish from boat or shore. The relatively shallow, 2,683-acre expanse makes it suitable for paddlers of various skill levels, though typical lake conditions should be anticipated.
