The South Shore State Park boat ramp provides access to Kanopolis Lake on the Smoky Hill River in Ellsworth County. This single-lane ramp is located west of the swimming beach and is best suited for launching small boats and jet skis, particularly when water levels are adequate. The facility is part of the Langley Point Area, situated immediately west of the dam on the lake's southern shore.
This access point offers convenient amenities including flush toilets, drinking water, showers, a dump station, a swimming beach, playground, and nature trail. Paddlers and boaters should note that this is a no-reservation day-use area. For those interested in extended stays, nearby Riverside Park and Venango Park offer camping facilities (Riverside Park reservations available April 1-30 and October 1-November 30; contact the Kanopolis Project Office at 785-546-2294). The surrounding area also features the Fort Harker Museum and opportunities for hiking in the Smoky Hill Wildlife Area.
