About This Access Site
The Kenai River Fish Trap access site provides a public boat ramp for launching kayaks, canoes, and small boats onto the Kenai River in Soldotna, Alaska. The Kenai River is a large, glacier-fed river that flows for over 97 miles, with an average elevation drop of 410 feet and average flow of over 1,000 cubic feet per second.

This access point is located within the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses over 1.3 million acres of protected wilderness. The boat ramp is free to use and easily accessible, situated just off the Kenai Spur Highway about 1.6 miles south of milepost 10.8. Paddlers and boaters can access several popular fishing holes and scenic stretches of the lower Kenai River from this launch site. Basic amenities like restrooms and drinking water are available. Those launching at lower water levels may need a four-wheel-drive vehicle due to the steepness of the boat ramp.
