Keota Landing provides convenient boat access to the Arkansas River's Robert S. Kerr Reservoir. This large lake offers excellent opportunities for paddling, boating, and fishing. The boat ramp makes it easy to launch kayaks, canoes, and powerboats into the calm, navigable waters.
The reservoir is part of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, allowing access to miles of scenic river. Paddlers can explore the shoreline and observe barges and pleasure craft passing through the nearby lock. The surrounding Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge also offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and hiking.
Facilities at Keota Landing include the boat ramp, as well as picnic areas and campgrounds managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Boaters and paddlers should note that while the reservoir provides deep, open water, the Arkansas River downstream can have stronger currents and obstacles. Checking water levels and planning accordingly is recommended for a safe and enjoyable trip.
