Kit Carson Resort

The Kit Carson Resort on Silver Lake provides easy access for kayakers, canoeists, and other small boat users. Located in the Eldorado National Forest, Silver Lake is a 385-acre reservoir known for its scenic mountain setting and variety of recreational activities.

The resort offers two launch ramps, one at either end of the lake, allowing boaters to easily access the water. While the resort previously offered boat, kayak, and paddleboard rentals, these services are no longer available as of September 2025. Visitors will need to bring their own non-motorized watercraft to enjoy the lake.

Nearby campgrounds within 10 miles include Kirkwood Campground, Woods Lake Campground, and Caples Lake Campground, providing ample options for those looking to spend more time on and around the lake. The surrounding Eldorado National Forest also offers hiking trails and other outdoor recreation opportunities to complement a day on the water.
