About This Access Site
Knoll Lake is a scenic forest lake located 108 miles southeast of Flagstaff at 7,340 feet elevation, surrounded by ponderosa pines with a picturesque island in its center. The boat ramp is located on the north side of the lake near the Knoll Lake Campground and provides access for kayaks, canoes, and non-motorized or electric motorboats. The lake's size and depth make it well-suited for paddling, though shoreline access varies—some areas are easily walkable while others feature steep banks or dense brush.

To reach the access site from Flagstaff, take Highway 3 (Lake Mary Road) south 55 miles to Clints Well, then turn northeast on Highway 87. Follow Forest Roads 96 (veer left after 6 miles), then 321, 300, and 295E to reach the lake in approximately 4 miles. The final stretch involves driving past Knoll Lake Campground and parking near the boat ramp.

Knoll Lake Campground is located nearby and offers 30 single-unit sites and 3 double campsites with potable water and vault toilets. Additional camping options exist at nearby FR 84 and FR 169 areas. The lake is known for rainbow, brown, and brook trout fishing, and the nearby Mogollon Rim offers scenic exploration opportunities.
