Koehn Avenue Public Boat Ramp (Shallow Water)

Located at the north end of Koehn Avenue in Big Pine Key, this single-lane gravel ramp provides access to Big Spanish Channel and the Gulf of Mexico. The ramp is situated approximately 1 mile south of the intersection of County Road and Koehn Avenue (GPS: 24.71904, -81.37506). This is a straightforward, no-frills launch facility suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small to medium-sized boats seeking access to inshore and offshore fishing waters.

Paddlers launching here enter the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary immediately, so be prepared to follow sanctuary regulations regarding protected areas and marine life. Big Spanish Channel offers opportunities for inshore fishing, sight-seeing, and exploration of the surrounding Keys. The nearby National Key Deer Refuge adds natural history interest to the area. Given the gravel surface and single-lane configuration, arrive early during peak seasons and be mindful of other users when launching or retrieving.
