La Pointe Park offers public boat ramp and carry-in access to Lake Menomin on the Red Cedar River in Menomonie. The access point is located via Red Cedar Street and Domain Drive. This historic launch site was Menomonie's first modern boat launching facility, developed in the 1950s following the construction of the Red Cedar Dam and the creation of Lake Menomin. Lake Menomin reaches depths of 34 feet at its deepest point, providing good water depth for various boating activities.
The site provides a convenient entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to access Lake Menomin's recreational waters. The lake is known as a year-round fishing destination and popular spot for water sports. Be aware that the surrounding area has become less actively maintained in recent years, and topographic conditions may limit access potential. Paddlers should verify current conditions before visiting and check with Menomonie Parks and Recreation or the Wisconsin DNR for any updates on facility maintenance or access restrictions.
