About This Access Site
West Ashtabula Crossing is a two-lane boat launch facility located on the west side of Lake Ashtabula, positioned at the west end of the 118th Avenue SE Bridge. This is one of seven maintained boat ramps around the lake, making it a reliable access point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The site includes a fishing pier and fish cleaning station, with amenities including drinking water and restroom facilities. Note that some gravel travel is required to reach this ramp.

Lake Ashtabula is a multipurpose recreation area located in the heart of North Dakota's prairie pothole country near Rogers. As one of the primary access points, West Ashtabula Crossing provides good central lake access and connects to the broader recreation infrastructure around the lake, which includes camping areas, picnic facilities, and additional support services. The lake offers opportunities for fishing, boating, and paddling, with three designated swimming areas also available around the shoreline. Paddlers should plan accordingly for the gravel road access and check conditions before launching, particularly during wet weather.
